Position Summary:

The person in this position serves as a member of the Georgia Center Executive Council, representing the Sales & Event Coordination (SEC) Division. The SEC Division Director oversees/manages four departments: Sales, Event Coordination, Event Services, and Marketing Services.

This position provides leadership and strategic direction for division department heads; assisting with department goals and objectives and evaluating individual annual performance of staff. This position is responsible for establishing standard operating procedures for divisional operations, as well as facilitating day-to-day activities between the division and other Georgia Center departments to ensure operational efficiency.

Provide leadership to the division through clearly defining performance expectations, ensuring accountability and providing ongoing informal feedback, coaching mentoring, and resolving complaints or issues. Develop and foster supportive working relationships, motivation and engagement.

The SEC Director oversees departmental budgets within the division, sets budget priorities and monitors the financial impact of events by overseeing financial agreements and negotiations with clients.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:

•Experience in event planning and sales in a continuing education environment
•Extensive knowledge of and experience in hospitality sales and event coordination, including a general understanding of audiovisual technology – Certified Meeting Professional designation is preferred
•Experience with planning and budget management and supervision of an organization that is self-supported
•Experience developing and implementing strategic plans
•Experience managing marketing and promotional activities
• Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to foster partnerships among academic, community and other stakeholders
• Demonstrated commitment to the professional development of staff
• Demonstrated experience to work independently as well as in a collaborative manner, with employee groups, constituents and/or community members
