Aerotek Engineering is seeking 5 GIS/Field Technicians to support projects for Denver's largest utility provider.
Supporting Xcel (biggest utility company in Denver) and they need 4 design techs for locating and documenting gas and electric lines. Field work consists of taking pictures of equipment, blueprint reading and measuring equipment. Office work consists of documentation, hand sketches, researching equipment specs for anything on an electric utility pole: transformers, valves, actuaters, types of pipe.
Responsibilities:
-GPS survey
-Overhead/underground line locating
-Inspections
-Documentation of power distribution, gas distribution, ROW, compressors and other related facilities
-Complete design tasks for associated utility design projects such as mapping in GE Smallworld, easement validation, design/construction cost estimating and permit package development
-Manage 20-30 active projects
-Review GIS for update or conflict
-Coordinate projects for construction across multiple departments to accomplish timely construction and meet customer, crew member or client needs within a negotiated timeframe
Will be calling Xcel customers and introducing themselves on behalf of Xcel. Will set up site visits with customers and once on site will take measurements (of pipes, generators, installation dimensions, etc.). Will then draw changes up by hand and pass it off to a member of the GIS team who will bring the drawing to life. Candidate then will estimate all charges/cost for the change the customer needs and call Xcel to explain what needs to be done. Must have a customer service mindset to handle customers who were promised information from Xcel weeks ago and never received it.
