Thomas E. Milner, Ph.D., Director of the Beckman Laser Institute & Medical Clinic, is one of the early investigators in photomedicine, having made seminal contributions in both surgery and diagnostics.

Prof. Milner anticipates openings for Junior, Assistant, Associate, and Full Specialists. The job responsibilities include familiarity with novel optical microscope and laser medical technologies, physics, and optics to integrate various new optical technologies into current and new systems. Candidates will have at least two decades of experience collaborating directly with medical doctors, physicists, and researchers in activities necessary to generate and maintain product designs. Understanding medical device manufacturing and testing processes with related regulations such as IEC60601-1 and 510(k) submissions is beneficial.

Candidates must have a minimum of a B.S. degree and be able to work in an interdisciplinary setting developing electrical, mechanical, optical and chemical specifications and processes for systems, products, components and applications by designing, fabricating and conducting research programs and applying knowledge of materials and components. Initial appointments are for at least one year with the potential for extension and/or renewal dependent on work performance and availability of funding support. Rank will be determined based on
