Job Opening ID: 13096Reports To: STDT ADVISOR SUPV 2Working Title: Student Support CoordinatorDepartment: Public HealthBargaining Unit: 99FLSA: ExemptPayroll Job Code: 004576Job Location: UCI Campus- IrvinePercent of Time: 100%Work Schedule: 8-5 M-FEmployee Class: CareerPosition Summary:Under the general supervision of the Interim Director of Student Affairs, the Student Support Coordinator will provide support and programmatic activities focused on student wellness, self-care, life and coping skills, for Public Health undergraduate majors, specifically underrepresented, first-generation, veteran, and our female populations. Meet with and support students in distress or experiencing extenuating circumstances while utilizing basic counseling skills to assess students’ needs. Establish clear learning outcomes for all programs and methods to measure achievement of all outcomes. Assist with various Public Health events and activities. Advise undergraduates about applicable procedures and assist with the interpretation of University policies and procedures.Applying advanced, specialized student services expertise, advises department / college / school or Graduate Division management, faculty, and students on the most complex student issues; and / or has programmatic responsibility for a complex student affairs function that usually has a discrete budget or budgets, has impact beyond the unit, and involves establishing strategic goals. Is expected to identify systemic problems and issues, and propose solutions to management.Compensation Range:$4,641.67 - $7,083.33Department Website: http://publichealth.uci.eduRequired:5-7 years of relevant experience.Master's degree in Education, Psychology, or Social Work or in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.Advanced knowledge of advising and counseling techniques. Advanced verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills. Multicultural competencies; ability to work with diverse populations. Ability to identify unique challenges facing underrepresented populations, i.e. first-generation, low-income, veteran, and female students. Ability in problem identification and reasoning; ability to develop original ideas to solve problems, persuasion, leadership. Skills in monitoring / assessing people, processes or services, to make improvements.Preferred:Skills in project management, social perceptiveness to be aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do.Special Conditions Required:Final candidate subject to background check.
