The CFCCC conducts interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research into the causes, prevention, therapy, and survival of cancer, trains the next generation of cancer investigators and care providers, serves as a community and regional resource for state-of-the-art information and expertise on cancer, and delivers the highest-quality multidisciplinary care to cancer patients and their families within our catchment area. To facilitate this, the CFCCC provides research resources to its ~175 cross-institutional members engaged in this research. The Senior Program Coordinator (SPC) for Training & Research Services is directly responsible for managing the program for cancer research training and education and coordinating research development for the Shared Resources, research cores as required of a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Cancer Center awarded via the P30 Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) mechanism. Teaming with the Cancer Center Associate Director for Cancer Research Training and Education, the SPC will develop, implement, and support new and existing programs for education, mentorship, and continuing career development as it relates to cancer across the spectrum of learners from high school students through mid-level faculty members. The SPC will support existing and future programs, including assistance with curriculum development, speaker selection and scheduling, advertising, registration, meeting management, and program evaluation. The SPC organizes educational seminars, workshops, and related activities, supporting trainees, including junior faculty, in preparing grant applications, and for senior faculty in preparing institutional training grant applications and tracking all outcomes of these activities. The SPC focuses on methods by which to coordinate Cancer Center activities with other institutional efforts, and integrate them into programmatic efforts (e.g. UCI NIH Boot Camp, A1 Resubmission Club, and Clinical & Translational Scholars Program). The SPC, under the direction of the AD, will collect, track, and report on education metrics and other newly formed initiatives. This may include finding creative ways to collect data currently not being collected, and will necessitate working with other program managers. The SPC provides input toward development of new initiatives and plans for the next (five-year) grant funding cycle. Teaming with the Cancer Center Deputy Director, the SPC manages all aspects of the Cancer Center’s Shared Resources to maintain and establish services which meet the scientific needs of Cancer Center membership. This ongoing analysis includes, but is not limited to, independent coordination of regular Internal Advisory Committee meetings, management of annual surveys, analysis of aggregate data, and creation of metric dashboards and data visualization tools for all Shared Resources. The SPC will lead and manage quarterly Shared Resource operations meetings with all shared resources to engage in best practices, streamline operations and support Shared Resources as necessary. Additionally, the SPC will take an active role teaming with the Informatics Program Manager in the iLab implementation process in training and transitioning all Shared Resources. The SPC reports to the Director for Administrative Programs. The ongoing analysis of standards and performance requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors including policies/
