Overview Behavioral Health Nursing - Geriatric UnitRegistered Nurse - PRN - Nights The Geriatric Behavioral HealthNursing Unit at Mission Hospital is a 9-bed nursing unit thatserves individuals who are aging; patients who are aged 65+ and whohave mental illness such as dementia, Alzheimer's or any othermental illness and who may be experiencing exacerbations of theirillness. Nurses seeking to work on this unit and with this patientpopulation are most successful when coming to the unit with a solidfoundation of medical nursing skills already in place, as many ofour patients may also be experiencing medically-complex issues andmultiple co-morbidities. Nurses working on this unit have anexciting opportunity to balance the use of their medical skillswith their behavioral health nursing skills to provide the utmostin compassionate care to this often-vulnerable patient population.Registered Nurse at Mission Hospital: Required Education: Bachelorof Science in Nursing. Effective 3/1/18 Bachelor of Science inNursing OR enroll in a BSN or advanced degree program within 6months AND obtain a BSN within 4 years of hire date into RNposition. Previous signed BSN commitment letter OR grandfatheringwill be accepted between departments and Mission Health entities.Exemptions may be approved with CNO System Council approval.Required License or Certifications: Must have and maintain currentlicensure as registered nurse with the North Carolina Board ofNursing. eNLC (Enhanced Nurse License Compact) license may apply,licensee should confirm with NCBON Certificate: BLS HealthcareProvider. Preferred License or Certifications: NationalCertification in area of specialty. Required Experience: One-yearhospital nursing experience (NOTE: This is the baseline experiencerequired for a Registered Nurse at Mission Hospital.
