Registered Nurse (RN) Medical Cardiology Stepdown

Overview 5 Heart at Mission Hospital Registered Nurse- Medical Cardiology Step Down Unit - Progressive Care Full-Time -Days - 7a-7p MCSD is a 40-bed unit, which specializes in thetreatment and care of patients with acute and chronic heartfailure, acute coronary syndrome, post heart catheter procedures(stent placements, etc), pulmonary hypertension, and all types ofarrhythmias. Nurses who work on 5 Heart have the opportunity toconduct pre/post right heart catheterization and ICD placementcare, pacemaker placements and post-ablation care, pre/post cardiaccatheter care, pre/post coronary intervention care, assistance withbedside cardioversions and transcutaneous pacing for symptomaticheart blocks, as well as maintenance of ICU-initiated drips, andwork with common medications specific to the care of this patientpopulation. Work on 5 Heart provides Registered Nurses with theopportunity to play an integral role in the Team-Based Care model,and it provides exceptional foundational experience in medical careand telemetry for cardiac patients that may lend to future skillspathways to intensive care units or other nursing specialties,depending on the nurse's individual career goals. Role Summary:Provides leadership which facilitates the delivery of professionalnursing care for the comfort and well-being of patients. Utilizesthe nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, andevaluation, to provide, delegate, supervise and document care andteaching of patients and family. Implements medically prescribedinterventions. Required Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing.Effective 3/1/18 Bachelor of Science in Nursing OR enroll in a BSNor advanced degree program within 6 months AND obtain a BSN within4 years of hire date into RN position. Previous signed BSNcommitment letter OR grandfathering will be accepted betweendepartments and Mission Health entities. Exemptions may be approvedwith CNO System Council approval. Preferred Education: Masters inNursing. Required License or Certifications: Must have and maintaincurrent licensure as registered nurse with the North Carolina Boardof Nursing. eNLC (Enhanced Nurse License Compact) license mayapply, licensee should confirm with NCBON Certificate: BLSHealthcare Provider. Preferred License or Certifications: NationalCertification in area of specialty.
