Job Description

Our client is seeking an individual with a background in steel detailing and mechanical understanding for drafting, design and detailing. They deal mainly with structural steel and aluminum. The majority of the work is AutoCAD 2D. They will need to understand steel detailing, such as connections, columns, beams, components, etc.)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Using AutoCAD, create structural steel detail drawings for bleachers and grandstand projects.
- Using this software, they will create concept layout, detail, and design drawings. They will need to be able to work with architects as well.
- On day-to-day, they will bid on a project and (if awarded) get specs of drawings for space. Then, they will start from scratch to get grandstands designed to fit within the space. They will do detailing work.
- Participate in early concept work for new projects and recommend methods of construction, product details, assembly/fabrication to minimize cost and maximize value.
- Knowledgeable of changing national and local codes and incorporates these into product designs as directed.
- Works with purchasing personnel to order materials and samples for prototypes.
- Provides input to drafters on work requiring design input.

They do business in two main ways:
- Brand new design work per customers' specs
- Standard replacement work, which is more updating drawings

MUST HAVES:
- At least 3-10 years of experience in mechanical /structural design in a manufacturing environment
- At least 2-3 years of experience in SolidWorks
- At least 1-2 years of experience in AutoCAD
- Background in structural steel detailing (connections, procedures, etc.)
- Experience putting together Bill of Materials (BOMs) in Excel
- At least 2-3 years of experience design Steel or Aluminum

PLUS:
- Associates Degree or Technical School
- Bleacher experience
