Primary Purpose:

In coordination with the College of Law’s faculty and administration, develop and implement a strategy for the provision of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) and Continuing Education (CE) programs. A primary duty in the efforts to achieve this strategy will be the investigation of, and successful application for, public and private grant opportunities.

Monitor national CLE and CE trends and, in coordination with the college of Law’s faculty and administration, develop innovative strategies for CLE and CE programs.

Delineate specific projects and their budgets each year, prioritize these projects in order to meet the revenue goals for each year.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Assist with the development and implementation of conference-related CLE and CE activities and related logistical needs of the College of Law including conferences emanating from the Centers for Excellence in Advocacy, Elder Law, Law and High Education, the college of law Institutes, and its International and Graduate Programs Office, along with other college of law related conferences to advance the interests of the College of Law.

  • Grant writing, continuing education, and event planning required.

  • Oversee all activities related to CLE, CE, and related lawyer-education grant procurement, onsite and offsite live and remote programming, and training opportunities, handling various logistics including, among others, managing registrations, interfacing with off-site venues; and ensuring that programmatic and conference related aspects and needs are not unduly duplicated in a manner that will negatively affect revenue potential for any such activities.

  • Ensure that appropriate CLE/CE approvals are obtained for conferences produced or sponsored by the College of Law.

  • Prepare and monitor the budget of the OPE.

  • Supervise the staff of the OPE.

  • Maintain a collaborative work environment and works well with others.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience

  • J.D. required; may consider comparable degree. Five years of admission preferred.

  • Admission to the Florida Bar preferred.

  • Substantial experience in the fields of grant writing, continuing education, and event planning required.

  • An understanding of or experience working in a nonprofit environment is preferred, with exposure to higher education a plus.

  • The preferred candidate must be able to multi-task, have excellent computer skills, be detail-oriented, and able to follow through with ongoing projects.

  • A high level of organization, flexibility, judgment, and interpersonal skills are required.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and presentation ability required.

  • Some travel and schedule flexibility required.
