Overview:
Perform all clinical ultrasound procedures. Operate and maintain assigned area in a professional manner. Maintain quality standards and coordinate with other clinic areas to provide maximum level of service to patients.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for performing all Ultrasound procedures offered by the Radiology Department.
- Obtain correct/current clinical history on patients.
- Check orders and patient identity prior to exam.
- Transport all patients to and from department safely.
- Confirm technical quality of exam is appropriate for interpretation.
- Process exam appropriately to store in PACS – clean equipment on a regular basis.
- Communicate with patients, co-workers, providers and supervisors in a professional manner and be sensitive to the needs of both internal and external customers.
- Explain procedures in a compassionate and sensitive manner.
- Perform all QA/QC procedures of equipment. Maintain knowledge of operating standards and when equipment is not within acceptable limits.
- Strive to support and facilitate the radiology department with other company care sites and departments for the betterment of the patient’s experience.
- Maintain department records as requested by supervisor, department director and/or other regulatory agencies.
- Perform general office duties of the department when needed to include but not limited to: answering telephones, scheduling and greeting patients.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
Education:
- Minimum: High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent.
- Minimum: Graduate of an accredited school of Ultrasound Technology.
- Current CPR certification. Must be ARDMS registered in OB and AB and RVT registered in VT.
Experience:
- Minimum: One year of experience in Ultrasound Technology.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Work without direct supervision within the guidelines set by the department.
- Work for long periods under pressure and
- Work at computer terminal for long intervals.
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Write routine reports and correspondence.
- Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
