The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, one of four campuses in the University of Colorado System, is the major academic medical center in the Rocky Mountain region. The Anschutz Medical Campus is home to the University of Colorado Hospital, Children's Hospital Colorado and a new Veterans Affairs Hospital, making it one of the largest and most comprehensive biomedical research and clinical care centers in the western United States. With world-class health sciences research, educational and clinical facilities, the CU School of Medicine has established distinctive and highly productive programs, receiving research awards of more than $350 million per year, including more than $200 million from National Institutes of Health and other federal agencies. The School's total annual clinical and research revenue exceeds $1.2 billion per year.The Department of Psychiatry is one of the largest units in the UCD-SOM and is comprised of 5 Divisions. The Department currently has approximately 475 paid appointments. In addition, the department has 371 clinical faculty members, 125 regular faculty from Affiliated Hospitals (i.e., Denver Health, National Jewish, VA), and 94 faculty with secondary/adjoint appointments in Psychiatry. The University of Colorado School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry has just welcomed their new Department Chair, C. Neill Epperson, MD and is in the process of growing the Department of Psychiatry with new programs and expanding existing programs.Job Summary:
This position will perform general financial functions for the Department of Psychiatry divisions or programs under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Finance and Administration. Financial functions include budgeting, reporting, analysis, managerial accounting, revenue cycle management, labor planning, procurement, and contracting.Examples of Work Performed:

  • Perform general financial functions for assigned Department of Psychiatry divisions or programs under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Finance and Administration. Financial functions include budgeting, reporting, analysis, managerial accounting, revenue cycle management, labor planning, procurement, and contracting.

  • Review finances with administrators of assigned units at least quarterly, or more frequently if necessary.

  • Work with unit administrators on annual budgets and conduct variance analyses.

  • Update labor plans for assigned faculty and staff.

  • Create and update financial structures including SpeedType requests.

  • Enter funding changes, payroll expense transfers, and journal entries.

  • Respond to inquiries from faculty and staff in a professional and timely manner.

  • Serve as a procurement agent and maintain knowledge of University policies and procedures related to procurement.

  • Maintain knowledge of CU Anschutz, CU Medicine, and CU Foundation financial systems, policies, and procedures.

  • Serve as a departmental resource for financial reporting and maintain departmental databases.

  • Serve as a backup within the departmental finance team.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary and Benefits:
The hiring salary is commensurate with skills and experience. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, business, finance, accounting, or a directly related field

  • Two (2) years of professional level experience in finance or business administration.

Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis, but not for the specific experience.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Database management experience

  • Programming experience

Competencies/Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.

  • Expert knowledge of Excel/Power BI including pivot tables, Power Query (Get and Transform), and Power Pivot

  • Outstanding customer service skills.

  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
