Description:The Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences invites applications for a Postdoc position. This position is a two-year, renewable post-doctoral fellow to develop and apply statistical methods to increase the utility and equity of large scale, publicly available genetic data as part of Dr. Hendricks’s recent NHGRI Genomic Innovator Award. The main projects consist of, but are not limited to, methods to use common controls and to estimate, adjust, and harness heterogeneity in genetic summary data.I (Dr. Hendricks) am strongly committed to identifying and supporting each individual trainee’s career goals. The successful applicant will develop and apply statistical methods and will collaborate with a variety of researchers. For interested applicants, this position has opportunities for teaching courses and for mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students. Applicants will have the opportunity to collaborate and work with the Genome Sequencing Program, and the Colorado Center for Personalized Medicine Biobank as well as the opportunity to participate in events, seminars, and training through the Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences, the Department of Biostatistics and Informatics, the Human Medical Genetics and Genomics Program, the Colorado Center for Personalized Medicine, and the broader University of Colorado Denver and Anschutz Medical Campus community. The post-doctoral fellow will take the lead in methodological and collaborative publications in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals and will have the opportunity to receive training in statistical methodology and application, software development, grant writing, and collaboration.Successful candidates are motivated, and responsible with excellent communication and writing skills. A PhD in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a related field with a strong quantitative background is required. Strong programming skills in R is also required. Experience working with large data in a Linux computing cluster environment is strongly preferred. Prior experience working with genetic or genomic data is preferred but is not necessary.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- PhD in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a related field with a strong quantitative background
- Proven ability to work independently within a research lab
- Strong programming skills in R
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with large data in a Linux computing cluster environment.
- Prior experience working with genetic or genomic data is preferred although not necessary.
