Jobs in this career family provide general business operations of the organization or a combination of operational responsibilities covering multiple career families. Functions include institutional research, statistical analysis, policy development and review, strategic planning and broad unit business operations such as parking and transportation services, risk management, childcare services, real estate and property management, retail services or job responsibilities that combine fiscal, HR and operational management responsibilities.
Professionals at the intermediate level are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field.
At the intermediate level, duties may be more limited in scope and are performed with guidance and direction from other professionals.
Position Emphasis: The Policy Coordinator will provide an extensive array of independent professional support, which includes, but is not limited to: policy review and compliance oversight, project and event management, database management, fiscal and other administrative support to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Operations in the Office of the Provost. The two-campus structure of the university may require the Policy Coordinator to spend time on both the Denver and Anschutz Medical Campuses. The Policy Coordinator must act independently in making decisions and self-directing workflow. This position will require strong critical thinking and analysis skills in order to effectively manage the policy workflow, review and edit process. The position exercises initiative to achieve organizational goals and objectives, maintains confidentiality, and establishes and maintains positive working relationships. This position will oversee the functionality of daily business tasks and requires considerable focus and organizational, analytical, and technical skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides oversight and compliance support to the campus policy approval process; independently determines and/or develops appropriate workflow; incorporates appropriate resources and stakeholders into the workflow process.
- Ensures campus compliance with policy coordination, semi-annual comprehensive review, and approval processes.
- Collaborates closely with all stakeholders involved in the policy approval process; addresses questions, provides insight, and articulates changes to policy creators/approvers.
- Serves as CU Denver and CU Anschutz policy liaison to CU System Policy Office; understands the impact of system-wide changes on campus specific policies.
- Maintains records for CU Denver and CU Anschutz Medical Campus policies and unit promotion criteria and bylaws; researches historical policies and provides feedback for the approval process.
- Maintains public-facing policy library for current policies, bylaws, and unit promotion criteria using Sitefinity.
- Maintains working files during the policy review process and manages version control and naming standards for all documents.
- Performs procurement functions including travel card, procurement card, purchase orders and associated budget management while independently determines appropriate account for allocation of expenses to accounts and ensures financial transactions are appropriate and comply with all relevant university regulations and policies.
- Arranges corporate travel and meetings by developing itineraries and agendas, booking transportation, arranging lodging, coordinating meeting accommodations, and assisting with reimbursements.
- Provides administrative and operational support to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Operations as needed
- Determines the correct forms and steps necessary to accurately complete projects.
- Independently manages, coordinates, and executes special projects for the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Operations as needed responsible for managing the timeline and deliverables associated with special projects.
- Participate in organized training and meetings to learn new aspects related to the job and retain current information on academic policies and procedures, and general campus operations
- Independently researches and develops the appropriate documents necessary for meetings, determining the priorities for workflow.
- Maintains appropriate storage of documentation and ensures official and historical documents are stored safely and retrievable as needed.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with faculty, staff, and other stakeholders to ensure goals are met and professional relationships are maintained at a high standard.
- Provides supervision to student staff
- Perform other duties as assigned.
PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.
Salary and Benefits:The hiring range for this position has been established at $44,526 to $58,000 and is commensurate with skills and experience.

Minimum Qualification:
- Bachelor's degree business, business administration, education, social sciences, public administration, communications, information systems, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
- One (1) years of professional experience with document or policy management and/or developing workflow or business processes.
Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis, but not for the specific year of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three or more years of experience working in higher education.
- Experience working with institutional policy processes, project or workflow management.
- Experience with Sitefinity or other online content management system.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, and/or Access.
Competencies/Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of information management and/or workflow management coordination processes and best practices.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and reliable judgment as well as collaboratively with a team to achieve desired results.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to conduct research on peer institutions and policy formulation best practices and offer recommendations for campus policy coordination process.
- Ability to work well with all members of the campus community, including executive officers (Provost, CFOs, CIO, Legal, HR).
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access.
- Demonstrated progression in job responsibilities in an institution of higher education.
- Demonstrated experience researching, writing, or editing technical documents.
- Excellent written and verbal skills and ability to communicate to diverse audiences.
