Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•Providing accurate information about academic policies, programs, and options
•Assisting students in the development of meaningful educational plans
•Supporting students by helping them to identify and assess alternatives and the impact of their decisions on their educational plans
•Assisting students who are experiencing academic difficulty or are at risk of departure
•Supporting students as they transition into and out of college, develop greater responsibility for their educational goals, and evaluate their academic options
•Proactively maintain contact with advisees and provide continuity throughout their time at Hofstra University
•Collaborate with CUA’s retention outreach staff in monitoring the academic progress of advisees and communicating with faculty as appropriate, develop strong relationships with faculty in assigned academic departments and university offices
•Serve as an informed resource for students to make appropriate referrals to other university resources, including academic departments, Student Health and Counseling Center, the Career Center, and Student Access Services, and the Center for Academic Excellence
•Will develop strong capability in using the Education Advisory Board’s (EAB) retention software Connect for maintaining accurate electronic records on students and will assist in the implementation of group advising programs to promote the mission and goals of the Center for University Advising
•Participate in Division of Student Affairs initiatives and University-wide events
•Perform other duties as required

Evening and weekend work will occasionally be required.
This is currently a four day per week, on-site role.


Qualifications:Masters Degree Required. A minimum four years of full-time related experience in student affairs, counseling, health education, or directly related fields in a higher education setting. An established record of accomplishment promoting student development programs and cultivating positive relationships that cultivate comprehensive student-centered organization. Candidate will have strong quantitative and analytical skills, and have comfort with appropriate technologies including social media. Candidate will have a passion for and experience with working students, families, and colleagues of diverse backgrounds. Candidate will posses knowledge of student development theories, practices, and programs that enhance and integrate the relationship between student and academic affairs. Candidate will exhibit commitment to holistic student learning and development. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•Providing accurate information about academic policies, programs, and options
•Assisting students in the development of meaningful educational plans
•Supporting students by helping them to identify and assess alternatives and the impact of their decisions on their educational plans
•Assisting students who are experiencing academic difficulty or are at risk of departure
•Supporting students as they transition into and out of college, develop greater responsibility for their educational goals, and evaluate their academic options
•Proactively maintain contact with advisees and provide continuity throughout their time at Hofstra University
•Collaborate with CUA’s retention outreach staff in monitoring the academic progress of advisees and communicating with faculty as appropriate, develop strong relationships with faculty in assigned academic departments and university offices
•Serve as an informed resource for students to make appropriate referrals to other university resources, including academic departments, Student Health and Counseling Center, the Career Center, and Student Access Services, and the Center for Academic Excellence
•Will develop strong capability in using the Education Advisory Board’s (EAB) retention software Connect for maintaining accurate electronic records on students and will assist in the implementation of group advising programs to promote the mission and goals of the Center for University Advising
•Participate in Division of Student Affairs initiatives and University-wide events
•Perform other duties as required

Evening and weekend work will occasionally be required.
This is currently a four day per week, on-site role.


Qualifications:Masters Degree Required. A minimum four years of full-time related experience in student affairs, counseling, health education, or directly related fields in a higher education setting. An established record of accomplishment promoting student development programs and cultivating positive relationships that cultivate comprehensive student-centered organization. Candidate will have strong quantitative and analytical skills, and have comfort with appropriate technologies including social media. Candidate will have a passion for and experience with working students, families, and colleagues of diverse backgrounds. Candidate will posses knowledge of student development theories, practices, and programs that enhance and integrate the relationship between student and academic affairs. Candidate will exhibit commitment to holistic student learning and development. Candidate will possess excellent human relations skills, ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities, and perform highly detailed work.
