Job Description

We are currently seeking a content manager for an exciting new company that offers the opportunity to directly impact families raising children with disabilities on a large scale.Content development plays a major role in the day-to-day operations of Special X. The content manager will work closely with the editorial and research departments to help shape the direction of both feature articles for our online community as well as research projects undertaken on behalf of families.*The ideal candidate will have:* * 3+ years working in some capacity with developmental disabilities, whether as a writer, content editor, case manager, social worker, parent, sibling, graduate student, and more* Deep understanding and knowledge of disability, especially children and young adults ages 0–21 with significant support needs* Professional writing and editing skills and a laser eye for detail; background in fact checking or research a bonus* The ability to oversee multiple projects at once, and to coordinate those projects across multiple departments and priorities * The ability to look at a subject — such as the ins and outs of the IEP — and determine what is important, what parents need to know, who needs to be consulted for the most accurate and up-to-date information, and the best user-friendly approach to present the subject to families* Ability to work remotely yet collaboratively* Tech-savvy and comfortable using social media platforms including Slack, Google Suite, Vimeo, Zoom, etc. * Background in editorial, research, and/or a disability field required.*Primary responsibilities will include:* * Developing scope and direction of both editorial and research projects to ensure that big-picture questions are addressed * Helping ensure that sources of information are trusted and accurate* Working with staff writers and editors to break down complex subject matter for families in accessible language and an easily scannable format* Creating and editing content for clients, community, social media, emails, events, and more* Plotting, programming, and maintaining content schedule* Tracking news stories, current events, and vital issues within the disability community* Developing relationships with expert providers for consultation, when necessary.*If this sounds like you, you are in high demand!
