Overview Role Summary: Collaborate, consult andsupervise the management of complex wound, ostomy and continenceneeds of patients across multiple clinical specialties.Demonstrates clinical expertise through the integration of advancedskills, knowledge and competencies in a self governing practicePlans, implements, evaluates, delegates and supervises ongoingprofessional nursing care for assigned patients. Supports familiesand caregivers' educational, physical and emotional needs acrossthe continuum of care to reduce unanticipated and unexpectedoutcomes. Provides for staff development and education to alllevels of health care providers including outside nursing educationprograms. Uses research to transform practice and facilitate changewithin the organization to enhance quality, cost-effectiveness andefficiency. Conducts surveillance for hospital acquired pressureulcers and facilitates interventions to reduce nosocomial ulcerdevelopment and generate positive patient outcomes. Is responsiblefor product review in area of expertise and maintains records andstatistics reflecting role performance in both agency wide anddepartmental committees and projects. Upholds professionalstandards of nursing practice as determined by the NCBON and theWOCN Society. Exemplifies the Mission and Vision for MissionHospital and the Department of Nursing. Required Education:Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Preferred Education: Master'sDegree in Nursing. Required License: Must have and maintain currentlicensure as registered nurse with the North Carolina Board ofNursing. eNLC (Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact) license may apply,licensee should confirm with NCBON.Certificate: BLS HealthcareProvider Certification: WOCN, WCC, or equivalent nationalcertification within two years of accepting position. PreferredLicense: None. Required Experience: Minimum of 5 years of recentclinical nursing experience with at least 2 years in an acute caresetting. Must possess critical thinking skills, the ability toassess patients, proficiency in organizing resources, andestablishing priorities. Strong interpersonal and communicationskills, the ability to analyze, develop, and maintain efficientoffice flow, identify and resolve problems, and delegateeffectively. Must demonstrate reliability and the ability tomaintain confidentiality. Must have a proven record of workingautonomously and collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret professionalliterature, technical proposals and reports and be able toeffectively educate others. Preferred Experience: Board certifiedwound care nurse with 3 years clinical experience.
