Summary:
Provides direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.



Medical-Surgical- Pulmonary Unit -A Med/Surg RN would be a great fit for this role.

UCHealth'sPulmonology and Lung Surgery program is ranked #2 in the nation by U.S. News& World Report for treating respiratory disorders. Our PulmonaryHypertension Program is also recognized as a Comprehensive Care Center forPulmonary Hypertension, which is one of the largest, leading centers in theworld. Our inpatient pulmonary unit, which serves these patients is a 36-bedMed-Surg unit providing care for a range of patients, nationally referred withcomplicated pulmonary diseases to admissions from the Emergency Department. Ourprimary service line of patients include:

· PulmonaryHypertension (subcutaneous and intravenous prostacyclin therapy)

· ThoracicSurgery (such as esophagectomy, lobectomy, pneumonectomy, pectus excavatum,other chest wall surgeries, etc.)

· Ear,Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgery (head & neck cancers that require surgicalintervention, such as laryngectomies, tracheostomies and free flaps/graftsites)

· OralMaxillofacial Surgery

· HospitalMedicine (admits from ED & ICU with varying diagnosis and treatment needs)

While we dohave some specialized services, we see a variety of patients with multiplediagnosis and treatment needs. We are also the Burn Center sister unit so wereceive burn overflow patients, with an influx during winter months due topatients admitted for frostbite. Our unit is high functioning, team-orientedand fast paced, with incredible on the job training to ensure highly skillfuland competent clinical staff.

Work Schedule: Full Time Nights


Responsibilities:
Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.

Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate. Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel. May precept student nurses and new hires.

Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
