Job Description
This management position involves directly supervisingseven to ten part-time Package Handlers. Part-Time Supervisorstrain, develop, and hold their workgroups responsible for safety,production and attendance. The Part-Time Operations Supervisorimpacts the organization by contributing to the continued growthand profitability of UPS by maintaining the highest standards foraccount productivity, accuracy, customer service, organization,communication, cooperation, and safety. The Part-Time OperationsSupervisor provides innovative and effective leadership andcultivates a functional working relationship with all levels ofpersonnel throughout the organization. Part-Time Supervisorsgenerally work a 5 day work week at 5 1/2 hours a day, with aguarantee of 27 1/2 hours a week. The Part-TimeOperations Supervisor responsibilities may include but are notlimited to the following: Meet or exceed all established standardsfor accuracy and productivity. * Management of department resourcesto ensure maximum output, accuracy, and efficiency at all times.Ensure that all department and/or corporate policies and proceduresare communicated, understood, and adhered to. * Establish andpromote a positive, team-oriented work environment emphasizingemployee involvement, pro-active communication, inter-departmentalcooperation, and continual improvement on all levels. * Implementemployee personal development plans as required to ensure thecontinuing professional growth of department personnel. * Ensurethat all department employees receive specific and detailedorientation, skills and safety training, appropriate materials andinformation, regular evaluations, and pro-active coaching tosupport their continued development. * Establish and maintain anaggressive cross-training program within the department to promotedevelopment, enhance flexibility, and ensure backup coverage ofvital functions and processes. * Function as an effective liaisonand advocate on all levels to ensure that employee, department, andcorporate needs are addressed in a timely and productive manner. *Responsible to ensure that all employees adhere to safety policiesand procedures at all times, operating in full compliance withdepartment, station, corporate and OSHA
