Laboratory Assistant

The Laboratory Assistant provides support for the Clinical Laboratory to ensure that testing may be performed in a timely manner and that the laboratory environment remains clean and safe. The candidate will be supporting medical technologist and laboratory technicians with the following
- Accessioning of patient specimens
- Cleaning laboratory glassware
- Storage and retrieval of patient specimens
- Assist in daily maintenance of laboratory and laboratory equipment
- Monitor and record environmental control data daily
- Biohazard waste disposal
- Assist with laboratory supply inventory
- Perform manual pipette calibrations
- Calibrate laboratory balances and weights
- Maintenance of water purification system
- Send out referral specimens
