Summary:Provides leadership and direction for delivery of patient care to a specific specialty area in the Operating Room or Cardiac and Vascular Center, in collaboration with physicians and other health care disciplines. Provides direction to staff in the Operating Room or the Cardiac and Vascular Center.
Work Schedule: Full Time Days - Monday through Friday

Responsibilities:
Administers medications. Serves as clinical expert in the delivery of patient care; is a role model and clinical resource for specialty area; monitors and evaluates the quality of care delivered.
Maintains nursing care plans, specialty instruments and equipment, and procedural supply lists. Communicates with scheduling regarding future surgeries. Provides mentoring and guidance to staff and students. Facilitates resolution of daily operational issues in collaboration with the charge nurse. Supports and assists with orientation, education, competencies, research, and professional development in collaboration with the CNS/Educator.
Resolves patient problems and serves as patient advocate. Enforces safety, environmental and infection control standards. Promotes compliance with AORN Recommended Practices. Coordinates with charge nurse regarding daily room assignments. Ensures the availability of instruments, supplies and equipment.
Assists in the development of capital budget for his/her specialty and department.
Completes performance appraisals and participates with Director in counseling and discipline of staff. Collaborates with physicians to ensure optimum functions. Serves as liaison between physicians and staff to resolve operative team issues. Manages the "call" schedule for specialty call teams.
Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
