The nationally-ranked Orthopedics program at UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital in metro Denver provides expert care and treatment for injuries and conditions involving bones, joints, and muscles. Our highly skilled Orthopedic surgeons perform a wide range of procedures, including arthroscopic surgery, joint preservation, repair, and replacement to relieve chronic hip and knee pain.
There are many conditions and problems that can put your limbs at risk such as infections, tumors, and trauma. At UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital, we feature Osseointegration which is a surgical procedure used for permanent placement of artificial limbs connected to the human skeleton), and Limb Restoration through a collaboration of several specialty services to diagnose, treat and restore limb(s) and return them to function. We specialize in minimally invasive options that use smaller incisions – resulting in less pain and scarring and faster recovery than traditional orthopedic surgery. Should you need surgery, our experienced team performs nearly 6,000 a year! Our inpatient Orthopedic unit, which serves many of these patients, is a 36-bed Med-Surg unit providing care for a range of patient. Job Duties
· Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
· Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate. Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
· Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
· Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel. May precept student nurses and new hires.
Skills and Abilities:
Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment, and take appropriate action. Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
