Summary - Travel RN – STICU Surgical Trauma ICU – University of ColoradoHospital, Aurora, CO

Surgical/TraumaICU (STICU)

This 24-bed unit provides care for the critically illclients who require intensive observation following surgery or trauma. We admittrauma patients, a variety of post-surgical patients, liver transplants, andliving liver donors. The unit provides hemodynamic, respiratory, andneurological monitoring as well as intensive therapeutic modalities, sedation,and pain management. The typical nurse-to-patient ratio is based on patientacuity.


Travel RN STICU

ASAP start

Day/night rotation

1-2 years ICU direct care RN experience
Preferred STICU experience;
ACLS and BLS certifications required

CCRN preferred

We prefer ICU candidates haveexperience with Swan-Ganz catheters (PA catheters) and pacers. EVDexperience is also desirable

Job Duties

· Plans,implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment tooptimize outcomes and maximize available resources.

· Monitors,records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate. Collaborates asneeded across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patienttransfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

· Evaluateslearning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family educationappropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

· Effectivelydelegates patient care to ancillary personnel. May precept student nurses andnew hires.

Skills and Abilities:

Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills,decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must beable to work in a fast paced environment, and take appropriate action. FollowsStandard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
