JOB SUMMARY
The Certified Medical Assistant 1 under the direction of a physician, assists in the delivery of health care for patients. This position performs a wide variety of patient care activities including, but not limited to, maintenance of clinical record and documentation, administering medications, giving injections, and taking vital signs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. Cleans rooms after procedures, cleans and disinfects equipment, restocks supplies.
Assists and accompanies patients from waiting room and prepares patients for examination.
Interviews patients and records or inputs information to patients' medical record. Collects all medical data in order to facilitate the physician's ability to draw conclusions about the patient's needs. Ensure all charts and forms for the office visit are ready for the provider.
Measures, collects and records patient's vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and prepares patients for examinations and tests, procedures and x-rays.
Performs routine patient testing, acquires and processes electrocardiograms, and collects and processes blood specimens and urine samples.
Prepares and administers routine oral, rectal, medications, injections and vaccinations excluding controlled substances, as directed by Physician. Identifies and reports adverse reactions.
Removes sutures and staples and change sterile and non-sterile dressings, as requested.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
Medical assistant certification from a program accredited by American Association of Medical Assistants or the American Medical Technologists.
Knowledge of principles of safe and accurate medical administration.
Knowledge of the 5 rights: right patient, right medication, right dose, right route, right time.
Ability to accurately document patient information in accordance with organizational policies, regulations and procedures. Familiarity with HIPPA regulations.
Ability to make observations of the general physical condition of the patient and notifies the nurse/healthcare provider of abnormalities.
Ability to give injections and draw blood.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Excellent bedside manner and ability to make patients feel at ease. Appears friendly, reassuring and approachable to patients.
Ability to take instruction from a doctor.
Familiarity with medical charts and records.
High attention to detail.

The Specialty Physician Assistant evaluates, plans and provides care for patients in consultation with and under direct supervision of attending Physician. The Specialty Physician Assistant performs clinical procedures under direction of attending Physician and according to approved protocols to include Performing appropriate medical screening and physical examinations, interpreting laboratory data correctly and ordering appropriate laboratory investigations. In addition, the Specialty Physician Assistant obtains medical and personal histories, performs physical exams, educates patients and families, conducts research activities reporting and publishing findings when completed.

QUALIFICATIONS
JOB SUMMARY
The Multimodality Technologist, under general supervision of a Radiologist, performs imaging procedures in two or more disciplines, with a 50% focus in an advanced discipline such as CT, MR, Nuc Med or IR, on ambulatory and hospital patients as requested by a physician or other licensed provider for the diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance with established protocols.

Performs high quality multimodality procedures, according to exam protocol and in a timely manner. Maintains production and quality of imaging procedures by following established standards and procedures.

JOB SUMMARY
The Emergency Department (ED) Technician, under the supervision of Nursing Staff, assists in the provision of emergency care. Performs duties and direct technical care requiring knowledge of basic patient care principles and medical technology.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Assists in patient care duties. Collects objective data such as vital signs, weight, pulse oximetry reading, pain scale reading, pain scale rating, visual acuity, nutritional intake and output and documents on appropriate forms.
Recognizes and reports abnormal data or findings promptly. Implements Physician, Provider and Nursing orders responsibly and documents interventions according to Hospital protocol.
Provides direct technical care. Assists with mobility, toileting, feeding and other personal care needs.
Performs phlebotomy to obtain venous blood samples and obtains and delivers other specimens for Laboratory analysis.
Assists or transports patients to and from the department.
Assists in patient education. Comforts patients and family members and responds to their concerns.
Performs clinical coordination activities.
Communicates effectively with Nurses, Physicians, and other healthcare team members to gather and exchange information related to patient care.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
Knowledge and understanding of nursing and patient care standards and procedures.
Interpersonal skills required to interact effectively with patients and staff.
Ability to follow established safety, infection control, environmental and isolation practices and procedures at all times.

Corpsman Certificate preferred.
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) preferred.
