Job Description

The Associate Vice President, Central Advancement will lead cross-institutional fundraising priorities and programs for NAU Advancement|Foundation at Northern Arizona University. The AVP, Central Advancement is responsible for the comprehensive strategy, performance, and supervision of existing and new Central Advancement fundraising programs, including annual giving, corporate and foundation relations, planned giving, principal giving and strategic initiatives fundraising including the Office of Native American Initiatives. The position also provides oversight of the North Valley Campus operations for Advancement|Foundation. The Central Advancement team is a high-performing, collaborative team that works across the institution and cross-functionally within NAU Advancement|Foundation to secure gifts supporting university-wide priorities, initiatives, and programs. The AVP will ensure effective strategy, implementation, evaluation, reporting and refinement of Central Advancement activities to support and achieve the divisions annual and Comprehensive Campaign goals and objectives. This includes ensuring the Central Advancement program has clear strategic objectives, measurable outcomes, aspirational work plans, performance metrics, and is well positioned for university-wide benefit and service. They will serve as an active member of the Advancement Executive Leadership team, assisting with strategic planning and implementation of Advancement priorities. The position will be responsible for personally managing a portfolio of donors and prospects. The position will report to the Vice President for Advancement and the Chief Executive Officer of the NAU Foundation.

NAU is in the planning stage of a Comprehensive Campaign. As Northern Arizona University launches this critical campaign, the AVP, Central Advancement will be officed in Phoenix and respond to the strong need for principal and major gifts outreach in the greater Phoenix and Tucson areas, including the build-out of NAU Advancement|Foundation’s Office and presence in Phoenix. Emphasis will be on securing and increasing major and principal gifts supporting university-wide initiatives tied to the University’s strategic plan.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Central Advancement Leadership, Strategy, and Supervision


  • Provide vision, strategic guidance, supervision including the development of performance metrics for individual major gift officers and units reporting to Central Advancement inclusing Principal Gifts, Planned Gifts and Annual Giving

  • Oversee selection, performance management, and coaching for Central Advancement team.

  • Work closely with university leadership, staff and college/campus partners to ensure clear understanding of priority objectives and expected outcomes. Work collaboratively with NAU Advancement|Foundation team members to ensure effective implementation of division activities to enhance annual and Campaign goals.

  • Provide program and budget oversight to Central Advancement team, ensuring efficient stewardship of resources.

Principal and Major Gift Fundraising


  • Manage a personal portfolio of principal and major gift donors and prospects in support of university-wide fundraising priorities.

  • Coach team member involvement with high-level donors and prospects and work closely with other university and advancement leaders to ensure top-level donors are effectively engaged and activities are coordinated.

  • Build trust among internal and external partners and stakeholders through collaboration, partnership, communication, and transparency.

Division and University Leadership and Service


  • Participate as a member of the NAU Advancement|Foundation Executive Leadership team assisting with strategic planning and implementation of priorities.

  • Assist in the development of policies and procedures to guide the daily operations of the Division.

  • In collaboration and consultation with the Associate Vice President of Constituent Development, provide systematic planning and reporting to include such items as forecasting, pipeline activity and status reports, budgetary reports, annual reports, etc.

  • Mentor and provide guidance to development officers regarding best practices in prospect and donor engagement and fundraising, trip planning and follow-up, stewardship, and building working relationships with university administrators, faculty, NAU Foundation Board, and volunteers.

  • Serve as a representative of the Vice President of Advancement in meetings, committees, or with activities as assigned.

  • Develop opportunities to provide team members professional growth experiences to enhance their skills as development professionals.

  • Participate in NAU Foundation Board and development initiatives by guiding Board members’ activities as appropriate and assigned.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Description

Northern Arizona University, a member of the Big Sky Conference, NCAA Division 1, is presently seeking a full-time Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. Details include; supervise and administer the strength and conditioning program for student-athletes of all sports. Work closely with the Athletic Training Program and the department medical staff in planning and implementing rehab programs for student-athletes. Schedule and provide supervision of the weight room and conditioning areas to provide the highest possible success for the student-athletes. Maintain a safe and effective weight room with a focus on the health and welfare of the student-athlete. Must have a working knowledge of Olympic lifts and variations. Must have a working knowledge of conditioning, speed, and agility training. Must have a working knowledge of modern periodization models. Administer the program in compliance with all University and NCAA rules and fulfill all duties assigned by the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach. Females and minorities are encouraged to apply.

Background Information

Salary

Commensurate with experience.

**The starting salary will be determined by the qualifications of the selected applicant balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.


FLSA Status

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.

This is a Service Professional (SPF) position. NAU offers an excellent benefit package including generous health, dental and vision insurance; participation in the Arizona State Retirement System or the Optional Retirement Program; 22 days of vacation and 10 holidays per year; and tuition reduction for employees and qualified dependents. Service Professionals are hired on a contract basis, renewable each 6 months according to terms of the Conditions of Professional Service.

Employees offered a position will be eligible for state health plans (including NAU's BCBS Plan). Employees will have 31 days from their start date to enroll in benefits. If a new employee chooses the ASRS retirement option, participation in the Arizona State Retirement System, and the long-term disability coverage that accompanies it, will begin on the first of the pay period following 6 months after the new employee's start date. New employees who choose to participate in the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP), which is an alternative to the ASRS plan for faculty and other appointed staff, will begin to participate on the first day of employment. Job Description

The Assistant Director of Orientation and Events is an integral position within the University Admissions office and is responsible for planning, oversight, and execution of all aspects of Orientation and event programming for prospective and incoming students. This position has oversight responsibilities for on-campus and off-campus recruitment events, as well as, effectively transitioning more than 7,000 students to campus each recruitment cycle.

Position responsibilities include:


  • Serve as a member of the department’s leadership team by participating in strategic planning, staffing decisions and other key areas.

  • Responsible for the oversight and direction of the Coordinators for Events, Coordinator for the Welcome Center and two Graduate Assistants, with ultimate responsibility for the evaluation of recruitment and orientation event programming and planning. Between all event and orientation programs, this position is charged with the successful execution of programming for nearly 50,000 prospective students and guests across 120+ events yearly.

  • Supervises the Coordinator for Events and consults on the development, logistics, facilitation, execution, and evaluation of major, high profile recruitment programs and projects such as Discover NAU and Special Visit Days.

  • Supervises a large team of student True Blue Ambassadors whom are responsible for the execution of Daily Campus Visits, Discover NAU, special visit days, spring and summer orientation programs.

  • Directs the development, facilitation, training, hiring and supervision of the True Blue Ambassador Program within the office. This includes leadership initiatives and mentoring programs.

  • Creates curriculum, enrolls students and facilitates trainings.

  • Creates and facilitates programming related to First Year, Transfer, Veteran, and International Student Orientations.

  • A member of the Leadership Team within University Admissions office and works collaboratively with the Director to facilitate strategic vision for events and orientation.

  • Works collaboratively with the Enrollment Management Communications and University Marketing areas of the University in the development of promotional event and orientation materials.

  • Conduct research as appropriate to projects or initiatives within the department, such as all assessment of freshman and transfer orientations of students and families/guests.

Job Description

Participates as a member of the health care team in providing primary care services to college students and NAU staff in an ambulatory setting. Job Description

The Graduation and Petitions Coordinator serves a critical role within the Graduate College. This position has primary / sole responsibility for reviewing and processing graduation applications, conferral of degrees, and graduate petitions. An individual in this position will work closely with graduate students, faculty members, departmental administrators and staff, and other staff in the Graduate College on graduation processes and petitions as well as provide administrative, technical, and website support to the unit.

Specifically, the Graduation & Petitions Coordinator is responsible for:


  • Assisting graduate students, graduate program faculty, and staff across the institution with all graduation related processes, including:

    • manually reviewing each submitted graduation application for completion and accuracy.

    • monitoring, answering questions about, and sending out notifications to all students regarding the status of their graduation application.

    • following up on outstanding requests for missing student information in applications.

    • communicating grading basis change and accelerated program requests to the Registrar’s Office.

    • completing the commencement program report for master’s students.

    • communicating graduation denial notifications.

    • withdrawing graduation applications and processing graduation fee reversals.

    • awarding mid-term and end-of term degrees.

    • processing and sending out degree-completion verification letters and certificates.



  • Assisting with diploma issues, including: completing graduation name change reports, contacting students about returned diplomas, ordering new diplomas, etc.

  • Assisting graduate students, faculty, and staff university wide on the completion of critical documentation, including leaves of absence, extensions of time, transfer credits, petitions to withdraw and academic improvement plans.
