West Hills Hospital & Medical Center is a full-service acute care facility located in West Hills, CA, in the Western San Fernando Valley. The 225-bed facility recently completed an $80-million expansion that includes a new Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Outpatient Services Unit, Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, and The Grossman Burn Center. Healthgrades (a leading independent health care rating company) announced that West Hills Hospital has received the Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence for 2011 & 2012, the Clinical Excellence Award for Critical Care for 2012. West Hills Hospital is also among the Top 100 Hospitals nationwide for Gastrointestinal and General Surgery. West Hills Hospital was the first Accredited Chest Pain Center in Los Angeles County, and recently received a Certificate of Distinction as a Primary Stroke Center from the Joint Commission.

Monitors cardiac rhythms of patients on telemetricequipment. Interprets basic cardiacrhythms, common dysrhythmia and monitor mechanical malfunctions.

This position assists in nursing care andpreparation of surgical patients by performance of routine and delegated dutiesaccording to standards and policies of the Hospital and department. Transports patients safely to and from theoperating room utilizing two patient identifiers per Universal Protocol. Assists in lifting and positioningthe patients and transportation of supplies and equipment to and from the department. Assists preoperatively by donningsterile gown and gloves to assist with prepping. Assists in housekeeping duties by cleaning the roomsbetween cases, adhering to infection control standards established by AORN.

Reporting to the Charge Nurse and Service Line Director, this position is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating and providing high quality, individualized patient care using the components of the nursing process. Those with BICU competencies will be assigned to both the BICU and Burn Medical-Surgical Unit.
