Responsible for delivering meals daily to families, include assisting in packaging, USDA-approved meals; keeping the kitchen and areas clean and sanitary according to Health Department ordinances.

Essential Responsibilities: The Food Assistant/ Part Time Driver responsibilities chiefly fall within the following core functions, although s/he may perform other tasks as needed.


Food Delivery Services



  1. Store food and supplies properly.

  2. Perform physical inventory of equipment and/or supplies.

  3. Take the temperature of cooked food that will be transported to make sure it has the holding temperature of 140 F or above.

  4. Maintain the safety of the environment for staff and children.

  5. Clean and sanitize food transport carriers daily.

  6. Ensure all trash is removed from the vehicle and any leftover items brought back to the center.

  7. Maintain and be aware of center allergies and concerns.. 


Driver Responsibilities



  1. Delivery of food to various sites as requested

  2. Follows the safest and most efficient routes given.

  3. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continuous basis throughout the work day. 


General Responsibilities



  1. Perform any other work-related duties as requested by your supervisor.

  2. Be present at work in order to provide consistency of services.

  3. Be a contributory team member in a positive/productive manner.

  4. Demonstrate commitment to mission, values, and policies in the performance of daily duties.

To be successful and to thrive in this role, you should have great communication and written skills that encompass effective practices in the following areas:



  • ​Work effectively with other teacher(s) in the assigned classroom and center. 

  • Supports the social and emotional development of children and using “positive guidance” approaches to dealing with challenging behaviors. 

  • Encourage the involvement of the families of the children in a Head Start program and supporting the development of relationships between children and their families 

  • Follows all Acelero Learning policies and procedures related to health, safety, nutrition, and other aspects of center operations. 


This position is required to work onsite to meet the needs of our organization and the community we serve.
